Apparently, the Christian Children’s Fund is changing their name by eliminating the Christian part. It will just be referred to as the “Children’s Fund”. Now, I say this as a proud pagan, but this seems to be a stupid move. I don’t know why the Fund feels the need to do this. There are plenty of secular funds dedicated to improving the lives of children in America and around the world where a non-Christian or non-affiliated religious person can contribute money if they so wish.

Watching the Colbert Report last week, a clip was shown of controlled outrage over the name change by a few people on Fox News Channel. One woman declared that she was going to cease giving contributions to the Fund. Wait a minute. Isn’t the point of contributing to a fund for children to help…the children? Who cares what the name is money is going toward improving the lives of children born into unfortunate circumstances? Only privilege people can afford to object to a charity name and use that as a reason to withhold contributing much-needed assistance to those for whom privilege is a distant concept.
